Ducati SBK rider Davide Giugliano is optimistic of a 'great' weekend at Laguna Seca following a headline-grabbing performance at the circuit last season on an Aprilia.

The Italian came closest to his first-ever WSBK win in the United States last season after a feisty ride on the Althea Aprilia, Giugliano leading for much of the second race before being overhauled and demoted to second place.

Coming to Laguna Seca on the back of another podium in the wet at Portimao, Giugliano is excited to be coming back to California on the Ducati 1199 Panigale, which enjoyed one of its most competitive outings in 2013 in an otherwise difficult season.

"I admit that Laguna is one of my favourite tracks, it seems to suit my riding style and last year I came extremely close to taking the win in race 2. I can't wait to get back to racing there and, after the podium at Portimao, I think we'll arrive in America more determined than ever.

"I hope that we are able to adapt my Panigale to the track as quickly as possible, and that I am able to make two great races - I can't wait."
