Luca Scassa will bolster the factory Ducati ranks to three for its home round at Misano after being handed a wild-card ride.

The experienced rider joined Ducati as its test rider over the winter, having spent much of the 2014 season on the sidelines after a bad break to his femur.

Now almost back to full strength 15 months later, Scassa has been rewarded with an outing at Misano alongside factory riders Davide Giugliano and Chaz Davies.

"It has been a long year for me," Scassa tells ahead of the Riviera di Rimini Round. "15 months ago I broke my femur and it has been been a long, long trip to get back here and to be back in good shape; not 100 per cent, but I have tried to recover as much as possible.

"Misano is finally coming. I am really happy to have the opportunity and, for sure, I'll try to do my best as I have always done. It will be nice to race a factory bike in a World Superbike team, which I have never done. I hope it will be the first step in a long journey."

"I have done four days of testing with the Ducati test team," he continues. "We will have another test after the races, but we haven't had so much before. I have no goals; I will just try to enjoy it as much as possible and, when you enjoy something and you have been at a high level, I think you can be fast again."
