Marco Melandri looks to have backed away from a possible return to the World Superbike Championship with MV Agusta.

The Italian, who left Aprilia halfway through a disastrous return to MotoGP last season, had been called up as a test rider for the new MV Agusta-Forward Racing project.

However this morning Melandri tweeted:

Leon Camier, who will compete on the MV Agusta in 2016, has taken up testing duties at the two-day Jerez test on the 26-27 January.

Melandri has won five races in MotoGP and 19 in WSBK. He has also been a title runner up in both categories.
