Kawasaki Racing Team duo Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes are gearing up for the squad's final European-based pre-season test at Aragon before heading to Phillip Island for the World Superbike 2016 season opener.

The pair recently completed a two-day test at Jerez alongside a number of fellow World Superbike squads with Sykes topping the timesheet on both days with lap record pace. Rea ended the test seventh fastest overall, albeit without running a hot lap on the rear qualifying tyre, as he built up his confidence on the new ZX-10R.

The Aragon test starts tomorrow (Wednesday 3rd February) with Rea keen to work on race simulations while Sykes hopes to refine some existing settings.

"We made both big and small set-up changes [at Jerez], so it was really productive," Sykes said. "We learned a lot about the new 2016 bike on the final day and now I am looking forward to MotorLand to have more time on the bike and reconfirm some settings. There are always areas where I want to improve, with the combination of both me and the bike."

Rea, who has spent all winter tests only completing short spurts of laps before returning to the pits, is keen to collect race simulation data for his Kawasaki mechanics and technicians which can be used as a reference for Phillip Island.

"We did not do any race simulations so far in 2016 so it would be nice to be equipped with that information before we go to Australia," Rea said. "We will continue to work and understand the bike a little bit more and be in good shape for the races."

The Aragon test marks the team's final action before the last pre-season test on the 22-23 February at Phillip Island before the opening round commences on the 26-28 February.
