Chaz Davies says he was given a boost of confidence from his third place finish in race two at the Chang International Circuit as he looks to take the fight to the leaders in Europe next month.

The Racing Ducati team had been bracing for its most challenging round on the 2016 World Superbike calendar in Thailand with the Panigale R's deficit on top-end speed being exposed on the track's long straights. Despite this weakness Davies battled back to take two positive results, a fourth in race one and third in race two - Ducati's first rostrum on Thai soil -, to mark a vast improvement on 12 months ago.

Davies says he travels back to Europe happy with the progress and some fresh confidence thanks to his third place in race two.

"I'm happy with the progress we've made since yesterday," Davies said. "Thanks to the team, we solved a couple issues and I could fight at the top again, but we missed a little something to try to go for the win.

"We still need to improve on the engine side, but this track was probably the most difficult both for me and the Panigale R and still I leave it with a smile on my face. This podium gives me a lot of confidence ahead of the next races."

Davies has cemented his fourth position in the World Superbike riders' championship by pulling out a 15-point lead on his nearest rival Pata Yamaha's Sylvain Guintoli and having matched Michael van der Mark's results in Buriram he remains ten points off the top three.
