Jonathan Rea has ended a World Superbike session on top for the first time this race weekend at the Lausitzring by going fastest in morning warm-up by one-tenth ahead of race one winner Chaz Davies.

The World Superbike championship leader, who extended his advantage to 63 points over Tom Sykes after race one, is aiming for a 2016 repeat when he went on to win race two having been powerless to stop Davies charge away in the opener.

Rea notched up a 1m 36.568s late in the warm-up session to hold a slender 0.101s advantage over Davies, while Sykes remains third with less than a quarter of a second splitting the top three.

Eugene Laverty is also in contention on the Milwaukee Aprilia in fourth place in warm-up ahead of race two pole-sitter Marco Melandri on the Racing Ducati.

Alex Lowes repeated his finishing position of race one with sixth on the timesheet for Pata Yamaha in front of wildcard Markus Reiterberger on the Van Zon Remeha BMW and Lorenzo Savadori for the factory Aprilia squad. Jordi Torres (Althea BMW) and Leon Camier (MV Agusta) completed the top ten, while the injured Stefan Bradl did take part in warm-up for Red Bull Honda in 13th place after missing qualifying and race one with a badly bruised left elbow.
