Hannspree will continue as Ten Kate Honda's title backer for the 2011 World Supersport Championship, it has been announced.

The Taiwanese electronics company has been a prominent supporter of the World Superbike Championship since it became the series' main sponsor since 2008, though it has also backed Ten Kate Racing since 2007.

During that time, its partnership with the Dutch outfit has yielded a World Superbike title and three World Supersport crowns, most recently in 2010 with Kenan Sofuoglu.

While post-season rumours had speculated the demise of the Supersport operation on financial grounds, Hannspree's decision to sign a new contract has enabled Ten Kate to go ahead and form a full two-man line-up of Fabien Foret and Florian Marino.

"We are absolutely delighted to continue our support of the Ten Kate Honda Racing operation for a fifth consecutive year in the dynamic and exciting World Supersport championship," said Hannspree Europe managing director Lukas Chong. "The team has an unrivalled record of championship wins and operates at an extremely high professional level.

"However, everyone in the squad also works with a big smile on their face and it is this attractive blend of technical excellence, professionalism and fun that fits so well with the Hannspree brand ethos. We look forward to celebrating more wins with the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team during the 2011 season."

While the official statement from the team suggests Hannspree will limit its involvement to backing just the Supersport arm, it is expected that Ten Kate will reveal a new deal with iconic former sponsor Castrol in the coming weeks.
