Broc Parkes and Kawasaki moved to the top of the timesheets during second free practice at Assen as they comfortably out-paced their World Supersport rivals.

Making it the third different rider - and manufacturer - to top the three WSS sessions so far, Parkes was the only man to break 1min 39secs as he went three tenths up on closest rival Sam Lowes.

The young Briton was second on the Parkalgar Honda, ahead of countryman Chaz Davies, who made it three different bikes inside the top three on the Yamaha R6.

Series leader Luca Scassa was fourth quickest, ahead of Ten Kate Honda duo Fabien Foret and Florian Marino, the latter heading into this afternoon's Q2 session eager to retain his provisional pole position.

Parkes's team-mate David Salom was seventh best, while James Ellison cracked the top ten for the first time this weekend in eighth position. Roberto Tamburini and Robbin Harms rounded out the leading positions.

Further back, Gino Rea was only 20th quickest, just over a second off the top ten.
