Chaz Davies remains the man to beat following the second free practice session of the World Supersport weekend at Monza, the Welshman dominating once more.

Lapping faster than his provisional pole position time from Friday, Davies's 1min 48.291secs effort was a clear six tenths faster than second place man Broc Parkes to make him the strong favourite heading into this afternoon's decisive qualifying session.

Parkes's run to second came despite a fall - his second of the weekend - on oil dropped by Ronan Quarmby's Suriano Triumph. The South African's blow up was so catastrophic that the session was stopped for more than 20 minutes to allow marshals to clear the track.

Davies's team-mate Luca Scassa was third quickest, ahead of David Salom on the second Kawasaki, though the Spaniard was another to suffer technical problems.

Fabien Foret led a trio of Hondas in fifth, ahead of Sam Lowes and Florian Marino, while Roberto Tamburini maintained his top ten presence in seventh. James Ellison was up to ninth on the Bogdanka PTR Honda, while Ondrej Jezek was an impressive tenth on the privateer SMS Honda.

Further back, Gino Rea continued to suffer problems on his Step Racing Honda, the Briton - who sits a provisional third heading into Q2 - unable to set a representative lap time.
