Having already wrapped up the World Supersport riders' title with Chaz Davies, ParkinGO Yamaha could create a similarly significant stir in the manufacturers' reckoning as it seeks to end Honda's stranglehold on the series.

Though Yamaha broke Honda's run of riders' title wins in 2009 with Cal Crutchlow, it didn't seal the manufacturers' crown. As such, Honda has now enjoyed an unbroken streak of WSS manufacturers' title since 2002.

However, that could all change at Portimao as Yamaha enter the final event with a 12 point advantage over Honda, knowing that if Davies, Luca Scassa, or even Bike Service rider Roberto Tamburini make it into the top four, it'll be crowned champion for the first time since 2001.

With ParkinGO riders Davies and Scassa winning eight of the twelve rounds so far, Yamaha would have been celebrating the title at Magny-Cours had they not suffered a non-score at Imola.
