Broc Parkes is relishing the chance to shine at Phillip Island this weekend after coming out on top in the World Supersport test at the Australian circuit this week.

The experienced Ten Kate Honda rider, now in his eighth season in the class, edged out Kenan Sofuoglu on the DeltaFin Kawasaki ZX-6R by just three hundredths of a second and French ace Fabien Foret, also Kawasaki-mounted on the Intermoto Step machine.

"In general I am very happy. I have not ridden a bike for four months and we sort of rolled in here, having only just put the deal together in the past three weeks," he said.

"We worked well and we just fine tuned the bike to suit my style and every time we went out we went quicker and quicker. At the end we saved a couple of tyres to do a fast lap after we did some race runs, but now we will go into the weekend working on our race set-up."

Parkes previously rode for the Ten Kate team in 2004 when he finished runner-up to team-mate Karl Muggeridge and the Australian again took the runner-up spot in 2007 when he finished a distant second in the championship standings behind Kenan Sofuoglu.

The 30-year-old finished in fourth place last season on the Motocard Kawasaki and will be striving to finally take the extra step needed to lift the world crown this season.
