David Salom is set to return to World Supersport competition at Portimao following four rounds on the sidelines though injury.

The 2011 WSS runner-up has been missing from action after suffering an injury in the lead up to the second round at Motorland Aragon, the Spaniard being replaced in the Intermoto Kawasaki team by Florian Marino.

Despite the late call-up, the Frenchman has proven to be a revelation in that role as substitute, most notably qualifying on the front row at Monza before going on to finish second in the race behind Sam Lowes.

However, Salom's return means Marino will not be present at Portimao, with both Intermoto and Kawasaki working behind-the-scenes to source the youngster a ride in time for round seven at Imola.
