The top three in the World Supersport class continued to be separated by the finest of margins in Misano on Saturday morning as PJ Jacobsen led a closely packed top three.

Having set the exact same time as Jules Cluzel on Friday afternoon, the 21-year old American skimmed less than a tenth of a second off his previous best lap to lead championship leader Kenan Sofuoglu by 0.061s.

Cluzel's Friday time was good enough to keep him inside the top-three and was just 0.07s slower than Jacobsen's best time of the weekend.

Indeed Sunday's race looks set to be disputed between those riders as Jacobsen and Sofuoglu used Saturday morning to test a race simulation. Both were able to post a succession of laps in the high 1m 38s - low 39s with Sofuoglu in particular showing enviable consistency in a 14-lap run.

Cluzel's session seemed to be beset by some issues, the Frenchman completing just ten laps, compared to Jacobsen's 18 and Sofuoglu's 20.

Almost half a second behind the leader, Kyle Smith placed fourth with fellow Englishman Gino Rea ending the session in fifth.

Lorenzo Zanetti headed an all-Italian quintet in sixth while there were notable performances from Christian Gamarino (seventh, +0.774s) and Marco Faccani (eighth, +0.87s), who featured well inside the top ten.
