Lukas Trautmann has been lined up to fill in for the injured Kev Coghlan for the MRS Yamaha team in the Superstock 1000 in Jerez next weekend.

The young Austrian rider, who has spent the season in the German IDM Superstock 1000 championship, will make a relatively easy transition into the FIM European Superstock 1000 championship having spent the season competing on a similar version of the Yamaha YZF R1M with Freudenberg Racing Team.

The 19-year-old currently holds third place in the German Superstock standings with just the final round at Hockenheim remaining. He has notched up four victories and a further four rostrums all while racing with a broken metacarpal and right fibula suffered earlier in the season.

Trautmann will step in for Coghlan who sustained seven broken vertebra in a nasty off during the second IDM superbike race at Schleizer Dreieck, while acting as a replacement rider for the injured Max Neukirchner and Damian Cudlin.

The former Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup rider and Moto2 wildcard is targeting the top ten in Jerez but says he will race on the side of caution to ensure he gets to the chequered flag in one piece.
