Lorenzo Savadori showed no sign of nerves at the beginning of a weekend that could see him be crowned champion of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup as he narrowly led Ondrej Jezek in FP1.

Having come so close to winning the crown at this circuit in 2014, Savadori set the fastest time, a 1m 41.459s lap, to head Jezek's time at the flag by half a tenth of a second.

Indeed Jezek had been sitting pretty well into the session, holding a three-quarter of a second advantage over impressive Frenchman Mathieu Gines until Savadori and Jeremy Guarnoni improved on their final circulation.

Guarnoni ended third, pushing fellow Frenchman and Yamaha man Gines back to fourth on his final lap as both local riders showed good pace early in the weekend.

The session was briefly stopped due to an incident involving Christoffer Bergman at turn seven. The Swedish rider was soon declared ok and the events restarted.

Raffaele De Rosa was fifth while Alessandro Andreozzi was the second fastest of the Nuova M2 Aprilias with the sixth fastest time.

Roberto Tamburini, the only man that can halt Savadori from clinching the title on Sunday, was seventh fastest.
