Roberto Rolfo will race in the World Supersport Championship for the next two seasons after signing with the new Factory Vamag MV Agusta team.

The 35-year-old Italian will ride an MV Agusta F3 675 in the World Superbike support class, having finished seventh in the 2015 Championship riding for the Team Lorini Honda, achieving a best finish of fifth at Misano.

The new outfit will be run by Learco Ghelfi and Rolfo - who is one of the most experienced riders on the grid having raced in MotoGP, Moto2 and World Superbikes - is looking forward to the challenge at the new team.

"I'm really happy about this great opportunity and I want to thank Learco and Team Factory Vamag for the confidence and enthusiasm" Rolfo said. "I really like the organisation and professionalism that can be felt within the team."

Franco Crosta, owner of Vamag defended the choice of Rolfo, saying that it wasn't a shot in the dark.

"We have chosen a fast and expert rider in Roberto Rolfo" Crosta explained. "Vamag and Factory SBK got together to create this partnership and this association was not formed by chance. It came from careful analysis in order to do well in what is an increasingly competitive but equally challenging and exciting category."

Factory Vamag have completed their first test with the F3 675 at the Cartagena Circuit in Spain, before the season starts at Phillip Island on February 28th.
