Luke Stapleford has left the CIA Landlord Insurance Honda squad in the World Supersport championship with immediate effect.

The 2015 British Supersport champion landed a move to the international series with the PTR-run squad during the winter despite interest from a number of British Superbike squads.

The deal marked Stapleford's full-time switch to World Supersport after an eye-catching wild-card outing on his Triumph at Donington Park where he finished sixth last year.

However, the British rider has split from the team after two rounds, having finished 16th and 14th in Australia and Thailand respectively. After being a noticeable absentee from FP1 at Aragon this weekend the team has confirmed the news.

"CIA Landlord Insurance Honda and Luke Stapleford have today agreed an amicable parting of the ways with immediate effect," a team statement read. "We would like to thank Luke for his efforts at the first two rounds of the season and we wish him well for his future."
