Kenan Sofuoglu has stormed to pole position for the World Supersport race in Aragon by pulling out 0.83s on his nearest rival and championship leader Randy Krummenacher.

The Kawasaki Puccetti Racing squad totally dominated Superpole two qualifying with a one-two has Sofuoglu strolled to pole position ahead of his Swiss team-mate. Krummenacher just about held on to second on the grid after Jules Cluzel closed the gap to less than two-hundredths of a second on his final flyer.

American rider PJ Jacobsen will feel hard-done by on the second row with less than one-tenth separating him in fourth to Krummenacher and is joined by Christian Gamarino and Lorenzo Zanetti on row two.

Former 125cc Grand Prix champion Nicolas Terol planted his MV Agusta in the middle of the third row after being pipped by Alex Balodini, with British rider Gino Rea in ninth place.

Alessandro Zaccone heads the European Supersport cup runners with 10th on the grid after his team-mate Axel Bassani failed to set a timed lap due to an early crash in SP2. As a result, Roberto Rolfo claimed 11th with Bassani completing the fourth row.

Defending World Supersport champion Sofuoglu headed the early running with a mid 1m 54s lap to take a useful half-second advantage on the chasing pack. Bassani, who had impressed during free practice on his European Supersport cup debut, suffered a small off on his opening flyer which effectively ended his hopes of upset the top order.
