Kenan Sofuoglu has maintained his advantage at the top of the timesheet at Imola despite coming under a late charge by Italian duo Alessandro Zaccone and Federico Caricasulo.

The defending World Supersport champion wasn't shifted from the quickest time slot all day at the Italian track and threatened to break away from the chasing pack with consistent and fast lap times.

However, Sofuoglu saw a healthy time advantage over Jules Cluzel trimmed in the final seconds of FP2 as Zaccone, Caricasulo and the Turkish rider's team-mate Randy Krummenacher all improved to maintain the pressure with a series of late flyers.

The shake-up at the front saw Cluzel slip to fifth overall ahead of PJ Jacobsen, Gino Rea and Lorenzo Zanetti.

Despite not improving on his FP1 top time Ayrton Badovini held on to a top ten place to progress into Superpole two along with Ondrej Jezek in tenth.

A crash halfway through the afternoon session saw Kyle Smith stranded in 12th as fellow British rider Luke Stapleford made some decent gains to rise to 17th overall on the Profile Racing Triumph.
