Kenan Sofuoglu has laid down a marker for his World Supersport championship rivals to match at Assen with a 1m 38.617s which looks to make him strong favourite for pole position in qualifying.

The Puccetti Kawasaki rider set the lap time almost straight out of the pit box in the short FP3 session to go three-tenths faster than his previous best lap from Friday's practice session.

Despite a late improvement from MV Agusta's PJ Jacobsen the American rider could only move to within three-tenths of the defending champion.

Kallio Racing Yamaha's Sheridan Morais enjoyed surprising gains with an early lap to hold on to third in the times and ahead of Kyle Smith on the Gemar Team Lorini Honda and Federico Caricasulo on the GRT Yamaha.

Jules Cluzel, who will need to progress through Superpole 1 in qualifying which has become a common theme this season, ended the session sixth on the CIA Landlords Insurance Honda with European Supersport Cup star Rob Hartog seventh as Lucas Mahias (GRT Yamaha), Kyle Ryde (Puccetti Kawasaki) and Michael Canducci (Puccetti Junior Team Kawasaki) completed the top ten contenders.
