Sheridan Morais has nipped ahead to the top of the timesheet in the truncated FP3 session at Portimao which was interrupted by a red flag after Kenan Sofuoglu fell while Alex Baldolini suffered a technical issue.

Morais, winner last time out in Germany, leapt to the top of the times early on while five-time World Supersport champion Sofuoglu crashed on his third lap of the session but was reported as okay. At the same time Baldolini suffered a mechanical problem with his ATK#25 MV Agusta which triggered a red flag suspension for track conditions.

After a brief delay FP3 resumed but the order was largely unchanged with Morais staying top from Sofuoglu while PJ Jacobsen continued to impress for MV Agusta in third ahead of Jules Cluzel on the CIA Landlord Insurance Honda.

World Supersport championship leader Lucas Mahias has kept in contention in fifth place ahead of GRT Yamaha team-mate Federico Caricasulo with Christian Gamarino in seventh for Bardahl Evan Bros Honda.

Niki Tuuli claimed eighth for Kallio Racing Yamaha as Kyle Smith (Gemar Team Lorini Honda) and Luke Stapleford (Profile Racing Triumph) rounded out the top ten contenders.
