Federico Caricasulo has a renewed opportunity to make gains on his title-rival and team-mate Randy Krummenacher in round eight of the 2019 World Supersport Championship after qualifying on pole position at Donington Park.

The Italian – who begins the weekend 22 points adrift of BARDAHL Evan Bros Yamaha counterpart Randy Krummenacher – struck at the right moment before weather turned again to claim pole position by a huge 0.7secs.

Significantly though, the youngster will start well ahead of Krummenacher after the Swiss rider could only manage a time good enough for 11th position, 1.3s slower than his team-mate.

With three manufacturers on the front row, Lucas Mahias flew the flag for Kawasaki in second position as Raffaele de Rosa put the factory MV Agusta into third place.

Practice pace setter Jules Cluzel starts in fourth position, ahead of young British wild-card Brad Jones, who was an excellent fifth quickest. Ayrton Badovini completes the second row.

Jones’ Appleayard Macadam Yamaha team-mate Jack Kennedy will start in 13th place.
