Lorenzo Savadori put the disappointment of narrowly losing out on a first round victory behind him by coasting to a dominant performance in the European Superstock 1000 race at Assen.

The race was shortened to nine laps after a terrifying crash for race one winner Roberto Tamburini brought out the red flags. The Italian ran into the back of Kevin Valk's Kawasaki, which sent he and his Mototox Racing BMW sliding down the start-finish straight.

With Tamburini unable to make the restart, it was left to Savadori to comfortably lead Raffaele De Rosa home and climb to the top of the championship standings.

In a fairly spread out race, Ondrej Jezek completed the podium after finishing 2.3s further back of De Rosa while Fabio Massei was fourth.

The close on-track action was provided by a three-rider battle for fifth which included Kevin Calia and MRS Yamaha duo Kev Coghlan and Florian Marino.

Having started fifteenth on the grid, Calia rode impressively to put a second Aprilia RSV4 in the first five places, while Coghlan beat his team-mate for sixth.

Sylvain Barrier was a high-profile casualty on the first lap of the restarted race. The Frenchman fell after a collision with Kevin Valk.
