World Touring Car Championship organisers have announced that Puebla has lost its place on the 2007 calendar.

The Mexican circuit, which came under fire from a number of drivers last season who were concerned about safety before the incident that saw Rob Huff airlifted to hospital, was given a deadline of 31 December to complete remedial works in order to officially secure its slot on the calendar, but with the deadline having been missed, the required inspection by the FIA circuit safety team couldn't take place.

As such, the Mexican round - slated for 15 April - will be replaced with an event at the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort, which will take place on 6 May.

Whether or not Puebla returns for 2008 remains to be seen.
