Former British Touring Car Champion is to return to the World Touring Car Championship in 2015 after pledging his future to NIKA Racing.

A stalwart of touring car racing, the 1998 BTCC champion raced a Chevrolet with NIKA during the Chinese round of last year's WTCC season, but is currently without a drive for the 2014 season.

Indeed, NIKA Racing has already announced it will enter Yukinori Taniguchi in selected rounds of this year's WTCC series, the Japanese driver competing in a TC2 specification Honda Civic.

However, NIKA has already firmed its plans for 2015, with Rydell coming on board to drive a customer TC1 specification Honda Civic.

"I'm thrilled to be representing an all-Swedish team in the WTCC starting next year. The Honda Racing team Sweden project is one of great promise, and I'll approach it with full dedication. The WTCC is highly competitive and lots of fun, and the new TC1 rules will provide us with an interesting technical challenge. I'm really looking forward to getting testing underway later this year!"
