The season finale of the World Touring Car Championship has been switched to Friday 27th November due to a political event in Qatar clashing with the original date of 22nd November.

The enforced shift has caused a calendar headache for the FIA as the surrounding weekends of the initial date, 21-22 November, will host the final two rounds of the Formula 1 championship and the finale of the World Rally Championship.

As a result, the current proposal is to run the final two races of the 2015 WTCC season on Friday 27th November.

The new date is still subject to approval from the FIA Motor Sport Council.

If the date is given the green light, it will be the first time a WTCC event has taken place on a Friday and the first time a championship decider will not be held on a Sunday.

The WTCC Race of Qatar is set to make its debut on the series calendar this season after the traditional finale in Macau was dropped last year.
