Reigning World Touring Car Champion Jose Maria Lopez has claimed his first win in five races to reassert his advantage at the top of the drivers' standings at his home round ahead of Tom Coronel and Rob Huff.

The factory Citroen driver rescued an impressive fifth place in race one at Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo after being sent to the back of the grid after a post-qualifying engine change and completed a positive round with victory in the main race on home turf for the second successive year.

The Argentine driver lost the lead from pole position into turn one to Norbert Michelisz but recovered in the second part of the race when Michelisz and Yvan Muller ran wide in an intense three-way battle at the front.

As a result, Coronel profited to take second place while Huff secured a second consecutive rostrum result with third place narrowly ahead of Tiago Monteiro, with Muller recovering to fifth place.

WTCC rookie Esteban Guerrieri was able to demonstrate his impressive skills on his maiden outing by taking sixth ahead of Mehdi Bennani and Michelisz as race one winner Tom Chilton and John Filippi completed the points places.
