Monday's announcement that Jack Miller will miss next weekend's Japanese MotoGP due to injury made no mention of a possible replacement.

However the Marc VDS team is indeed discussing the possibility of running a stand-in rider on Miller's vacant RC213V at Motegi.

The Belgian squad do not expect to confirm anything until the end of this week.

Miller broke his right tibia while training on a trails bike last Friday, undergoing surgery the following day.

The Australian aims to return for his home Phillip Island round, from October 20-22.

Alex Marquez. Same team and out of the running for the moto2 championship

yes, Alex Marquez FTW.

Sponsor won't want a rider missing from moto2, particularly if that rider runs up front. More likely to see someone like takumi takahashi

It's the same sponsor and the same team so not a problem

It would be interesting to see Alex riding MotoGP on a half decent bike.

Same team, same sponsors, no reason it can't happen. Bring it on Marc VDS.

It might a good chance for a tryout on the sly for next years vacant spot.

Let Marquez ride both gp and moto2 races, Marc wa.nted to try the other year. Would make for some huge advertising potential too.

Rather see a test rider on it than Marquez Jnr tbf

I know it's the same team and sponsor - but I'm sure they'd rather have their bike at the front of moto2 (on TV) than at the back of motogp (not on TV)

Riding more than one class in GP road racing was outlawed in the 1980s.
