A light rain shower at the start of the session sent riders back to the pits for wet tyres. The track remained wet to the end.

Despite the slippery conditions, Valentino Rossi made an early MotoGP comeback, just 22 days after breaking his right tibia and fibula in an enduro training accident.

Yamaha WorldSBK star Michael van der Mark is on standby should Rossi be unable to continue for the full weekend.

KTM test rider Mika Kallio is making his latest wild-card entry. Full time KTM rider Bradley Smith did not set a time this morning after a technical issue..

Didn't watch it but Rossi quicker than Vinales?? What happened?

@Markos the man is a genius. But really, it was a slippery, drying track so all times were set on wet tyres. Rossi set a quick sector 1 time and was up to 10th at one stage but then came in and didn't go out again. Vinales completed 2 runs but didn't finish above Valentino.

Markos - Well ... Vinales said it's good that "Valentino can be on the front fighting "  LOL ... Maybe on the front of him ...

But seriously - Marquez broke his leg in 2014 and came back to win 10 races in a row !!!

He go faster and faster !!!

Can Rossi win one race ?  after a broken leg ?

He sure can't win two in a row since 2009  .

@ET77M yawnnnnn another boring hater - why do you guys even post?

Mr Kallio sets out his stall again. Quicker than quite a few big names.

JRC1 - I'm not a hater  i'm a fan of the sport and i love Rossi - i'm just kidding ....

But i'm very realistic about the facts ...

I do not hate anyone ... I think Rossi will always be a legend - but also Legend like Rossi need to know when to retire ..

ET77M - If you enjoy the facts and are a realist, maybe look who's been the runner up in the championship for the last 3 years. Why should he retire?

Thanks for the info guys :)
