Trelawny have signed European under 19 champion Matej Zagar to boost the top end of their team for the 2003 season. Zagar, who is also the Slovenian champion, will join skipper Chris Harris and track record holder Emiliano Sanchez as the third heat leader for the club.

Promoter Godfrey Spargo [pictured with Zager]enthused: "Zagar is the most exciting prospect in European speedway at the moment. This is the culmination of 18 months of work. Zagar has been a long term target and we have been actively negotiating for his signature since November. He is the jig saw piece that we have been waiting for to complete our team."

Trelawny completed the signing on Saturday (Jan 18) when Zagar travelled to England from his home in Ljubljana to collect the European under 19 trophy at a presentation in Solihull. Pavel Ondrasik returns to the Moto Parc as second string alongside Steve Masters and the Tigers are now seeking a three point man to join Simon Phillips at reserve.
