Full World Superbike race two results from Assen, round nine of the 2004 world championship...

Chris Vermeulen takes a thrilling victory by just 0.05secs from race one winner James Toseland, after battling the Brit and fellow championship contender Noriyuki Haga right to the chequered flag.

Haga takes a close third, just 0.12secs from the Ten Kate Honda rider, while Chili crosses the line a further three-seconds behind to claim fourth ahead of Toseland's factory Ducati team-mate Regis Laconi.

With two rounds remaining, Toseland now leads the championship by 3-points from Vermeulen, with Laconi 10-points from the top and Haga 14.
