Gabriel Bortoleto will contest his sophomore F1 season with the rebranded Audi team in 2026.
Bortoleto made his F1 debut with Sauber as the reigning Formula 2 champion in 2025. He was given the nod by Sauber over Valtteri Bottas, completing an all-new driver line-up alongside Nico Hulkenberg. He became the first Brazilian on the F1 grid since Felipe Massa in 2017.
The São Paulo-born driver is also part of A14 - Fernando Alonso’s management company. Prior to joining Sauber, he was a McLaren young driver.
It wasn’t until Formula 3 that Bortoleto claimed his first notable title. Before that, he only finished sixth in the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship, behind drivers such as Paul Aron, who was previously part of the Mercedes set-up.
Bortoleto joined an exclusive group by winning back-to-back F3 and F2 titles as a rookie, earning himself a well-deserved promotion to F1 with Sauber.
He enjoyed a solid rookie F1 season, scoring 19 points for Sauber in their final F1 season.
