Team Information

Cadillac will become the newest, and the 11th, team on the Formula 1 grid in 2026.

They have named Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas, a duo of experienced grand prix winners, as their first driver pairing.

Cadillac arrive onto the grid for the first season of the new F1 2026 regulations so their competitiveness will be one of the key talking points.

The new F1 team will initially work with Ferrari supplied engines but plan to become their own engine supplier by the end of the decade.

The project to enter this team into F1 involved Michael Andretti, and General Motors, in 2023.

The FIA approved their bid but the existing 10 F1 teams did not.

The project evolved into Cadillac, with Michael Andretti as an advisor, and Mario Andretti on the board of directors.

Cadillac signed the Concorde Agreement to become an F1 team for the 2026 season, the first newcomer since Haas a decade earlier.

Graeme Lowdon will work as the team principal. Pat Symonds is also involved at a senior level.

The team's status as an American outfit also serves the growing appetite for F1 in the USA.

The hunt for their first F1 drivers was of key interest to fans.

Cadillac initially spoke about trying to hire an American driver. Colton Herta was mentioned but it never came to fruition. Zak Crawford also fit that criteria.

Then an idea was floated about pairing a veteran with a rookie.

Eventually, Cadillac were considering established names like Guanyu Zhou and Mick Schumacher, alongside possible rookies like Fred Vesti or Felipe Drugovich.

In a U-turn from their Plan A, Cadillac opted to sign Perez and Bottas - the two most experienced options.

Perez and Bottas are signed to long-term deals so should be in place to steer the development of the newest cars on the F1 grid through the latest regulation cycle.
