Aston Martin have high hopes for 2026's regulation overhaul and the AMR26, which will be the team's first car produced by design genius Adrian Newey.
A tie-up with Honda will see Aston Martin exclusively powered by the Japanese manufacturer, with Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll once again forming the Silverstone-based squad's driver line-up.
Aston Martin entered the sport in 2021, taking over from Racing Point. Jordan GP and Force India are notable entities to have been based at Silverstone, which is growing day by day as part of an impressive expansion led by billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll.
After a successful 2020, winning the Sakhir Grand Prix, much was expected of Aston Martin, with their first season coinciding with the arrival of Sebastian Vettel. Like Mercedes, Aston Martin were caught out by the changes to the floor area for 2021, significantly compromising their season.
In 2022, the team started the year with the wrong car concept, later introducing a B-spec version. They narrowly missed out on sixth in the constructors’ championship, but it wasn’t enough to keep Vettel, who had already announced his retirement from F1 ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
2023 was their most successful campaign to date, taking eight podiums in Alonso’s hands. However, Aston Martin tailed off in the second half of the year, putting them behind McLaren in the constructors’ battle.
It was a similar story in 2024, as Aston Martin started the year well before dropping down the pecking order. Still, they managed to finish P5 in the standings once again.
Things went downhill in 2025 as Aston Martin slumped to seventh in the championship.
