McLaren-Mercedes driver David Coulthard has slammed the decision to red-flag the German Grand Prix after the accident at the first corner when Luciano Burti's Prost-Acer got airborne.
Bridgestone and Ferrari extend contract.
Bridgestone Motorsport has announced that it has extended its collaboration with Ferrari, ending speculation that the Italian team may jump ship to Michelin. The company will continue to supply tyres to the Maranello team for the next three years, until the end of the 2004 season.
Arrows confirms Cosworth supply for 2002.
The OrangeArrows team has confirmed speculation that its cars will be powered by Cosworth V10 engines in 2002. The announcement was made at a press conference held at Hockenheim Circuit on the eve of the 2001 German Grand Prix.

I had to do what was best for Jordan, says EJ.
Eddie Jordan has said there was no row between himself and Heinz-Harald Frentzen which lead to the German being sacked just that he had to do it (fire Frentzen) for the greater good of the team.

Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer will be putting in an appearance at the Formula 3 Marlboro Masters, the traditional event held every year at the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort.
Zonta to race for Jordan until the end of 2001?
Ricardo Zonta's manager Geraldo Rodrigues has confirmed that the Brazilian's appearance at this weekend's German GP will not be a one-off and that the former BAR driver has a contract to race with Jordan until the end of 2001.

BAR-Honda have today announced that they have re-signed Jacques Villeneuve and Olivier Panis for the 2002 season.
Hockenheim: fast and furious.
Although the famous Hockenheimring has undergone a lot of speed reduction modifications over recent years, the 6,825 kms track (4.24 miles) is still amongst the quickest of the calendar with top speeds running over 330 kph and average lap speed expected to be close to 250 kph in qualifying.
