He started and finished first, and led all but three laps, only falling back during pit stops. His Margin of Victory was 1.429 seconds ahead of Cup driver, BORIS SAID/#57 Pacific States Ford.

Skinner knocked off DAVID STARR/#75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet, who had been on pole. Skinner, who was twenty-ninth of the 38 contenders. DAVID REUTIMANN/#17 NTN Bearings Toyota was third. Starr was the only non-Toyota in the top five.

NASCAR has mandated that the HANS device will be the only head-and-neck restraint device permitted for use for the 2005 season in most of the its series, including Nextel Cup, Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series and regional touring series. NASCAR no longer approves the Hutchens device conceived by and named after BOBBY HUTCHENS, veteran Modified driver and team manager for Richard Childress Racing.

Kurt Busch won his first, and the second straight NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship for car owner Jack Roush at Homestead on Sunday. As a result, Busch is now the third-youngest driver to win the championship at 26 years, 3 months and 17 days.

Despite his relative youth, Busch was highly articulate yet candid when describing his Championship year with Roush and crew chief Jimmy Fennig.
