Tarmac goes down at Bahrain GP circuit.
The all important first layer of tarmac at the Bahrain International Circuit was completed this week. Although a further two layers of tarmac are required, the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix organisers can now officially say that they have a circuit!
Briatore to be dad at 53.
Renault F1 team boss Flavio Briatore is to become a father at the ripe old age of 53, following the news that current partner, model Heidi Klum, is several months pregnant.

Piquet Jr. to get second test with Williams.
Nelson Piquet Junior has revealed that he will test with the BMW WilliamsF1 team again in January, and that it would be a 'dream' come true, should he be chosen to replace Juan Pablo Montoya in 2005, when the Colombian will depart to drive for rivals McLaren.
Sauber opens ultra-modern windtunnel.
A fresh breeze, in the literal sense of the word, is now blowing through the Hinwil premises of the Sauber-Petronas team, as the Swiss team was finally able to present its new, ultra-modern, windtunnel to the media.
Successful Vallelunga test for Minardi.

Tyre tests for Burti and Ferrari at Fiorano.
Ferrari's Luciano Burti was back testing at Fiorano today [Thursday] at the wheel of an F2003-GA, following his run on Tuesday. The day's programme centred on tyre testing for next season and was carried out entirely on a damp track.

Kovalainen in at Vallelunga for Minardi.
After persistent rain soaked this region yesterday, the second day of European Minardi's scheduled three-day test at the Vallelunga circuit, near Rome, took place in cold, but otherwise improved weather conditions.

Jerez test - day four: 11 December.
McLaren-Mercedes driver Pedro de la Rosa was quickest for the second day running today [Thursday] at Jerez, as the teams present again enjoyed dry and sunny conditions.

F1 needs Mr. E even more now, says Montezemolo.
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has said that F1 needs Bernie Ecclestone even more now, following news that a settlement has been reached to stop the manufacturers' forming a rival single-seater series - the GPWC.
Jerez test - day three: 10 December.
McLaren-Mercedes driver Pedro de la Rosa was quickest today [Wednesday] at Jerez, as the teams present finally managed to get in some dry running. The Spaniard completed 72 laps in total in the new 2004 McLaren - the MP4-19, his best a 1 minute 17.153 seconds.
Wilson rockets to 'Start of the Year' award.
Having received an 'Achievement in Sport' award last month, British Formula One star Justin Wilson has been showered with another accolade, this time from the readers of F1 Racing magazine.
Siedler to get F1 chance with Minardi.
A shared association with motorsport backer Superfund will see young Austrian driver Norbert Siedler given the chance to test a Formula One car with Minardi later this week.
BMW-Williams expands sponsor portfolio.
BMW is launching its 2004 Formula One campaign with two new official suppliers and another promotional partner on board, following deals with sportswear company PUMA and mobile network operator O2.

Jerez test - day one: 8 December.
BAR-Honda driver Takuma Sato set the pace today [Monday] at wet Jerez. Taku completed 51 laps in total, his best a 1 minute 25.938 seconds, around four tenths up on Felipe Massa, who was second.

Work is progressing on the straightening of the pit lane entry at Melbourne's Albert Park, ahead of the start of the 2004 Formula One World Championship season at the Foster's Australian Grand Prix on March 4-7.

Ferrari F2004 to debut in Australia?
Ferrari team boss Jean Todt has revealed that the Maranello based squad want to launch their 2004 car as soon as possible, so that it is ready for the opening grand prix of the season, on March 7.

Heidfeld and Firman wrap up Jerez test for Jordan.
Nick Heidfeld and Ralph Firman concluded Jordan Ford's final test session of 2003 today [Friday] in unremittingly wet conditions in Jerez, Spain.

Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer set the pace again today [Friday], at a very wet and rainy Jerez.
