Extra engine rules changed.
The FIM has announced that the penalty for breaking the new MotoGP engine change limit - which allows a maximum of five engine changes during the last seven rounds - has been revised.

The saga of when Ben Spies will move to MotoGP has finally been settled with an official announcement that the World Superbike title contender will move to Tech 3 Yamaha in 2010.

Ten days after team principal Paolo Campinoti revealed that Mika Kallio would stay at Pramac Ducati for the 2010 MotoGP season (see previous story) an agreement with the Finnish star has been officially confirmed.

2009 will be the tenth year that the Portuguese Grand Prix has been held at the Estoril circuit. Prior to moving to Estoril there had been two previous Portuguese Grand Prix events, both hosted in Spain; at Jarama in 1987 and Jerez in 1988.

Marco Simoncelli did his burgeoning reputation as a future star of motorcycle racing no harm at all by showing his versatility as a rider with a superb - and eye-catching - run to the podium at Imola.

Reigning 250cc world champion Marco Simoncelli has confirmed that he will make his World Superbike debut, riding Aprilia's RSV4 alongside Max Biaggi, in this weekend's Imola round.
