BSB renews STIHL sponsorship agreement for 2010
Staying in the fast lane in 2010, outdoor power tool company STIHL GB has re-signed with commercial rights-holder MotorSport Vision as an official sponsor of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship for a third consecutive year.
The twelve events on the 2010 BSB calendar will take place across the UK and will again be broadcast live on British Eurosport, with further highlights on both British Eurosport and the ITV network. As part of its sponsorship rights, STIHL will continue to enjoy significant branding at all events and trackside fans can view all of the action all of the time on the STIHL Giant TV. New for 2010 will be the STIHL KTM RC8 VIP bike, to give guests the ultimate power experience.
The 'STIHL Power Award' returns for 2010, giving both Superbike competitors and fans the chance to win a great STIHL prize. Based on the 'holeshot' principle of being the first rider to reach the first corner, passing the STIHL marker-board, riders are entered into a season-long league with the first in each race judged from spectators' own photographs uploaded to the championship website. Stuart Easton took the 2009 STIHL Power Award trophy, with 13 victories from 26 starts.
"British Superbikes has a large and very enthusiastic following," remarked Sean Larter-Conway, marketing manager of STIHL GB, "and the association of STIHL under the 'Ultimate Outdoor Power' banner is a very positive message for our target audience of professional and domestic power tool users.
"We have over 500 dealerships nationwide who are passionate about engines, power and performance - creating an excellent synergy between Superbikes and STIHL products. We look forward to another successful season with British Superbikes and wish all riders, teams and followers a good year."
"It's very satisfying to see such a prestigious partner demonstrating its confidence in BSB as a marketing and promotional platform," added a delighted Stuart Higgs, British Superbike Championship director. "STIHL power tools are fast, powerful and handle brilliantly - so this third year of sponsorship of the best domestic motorcycle racing championship in the world is a natural fit."
