Adeus amigos!

And that brings us to the conclusion of an intriguing - and exciting - São Paulo Grand Prix weekend

Attention turns towards a quick return to the United States for one of the jewel rounds in the F1 calendar in Las Vegas.

A very different prospect in store for the drivers, but one where another good result from Lando Norris can push him closer to that first F1 World Championship title

Until then, ciao for now!

F1 Standings

Norris' perfect weekend in Brazil sees him multiply his advantage over Piastri to 24 points with three grands prix (plus one Sprint) remaining in Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen - despite arguably one of his best-ever drives - loses ground to Norris to slip 49 points behind as his title hopes fade somewhat, though he is just 25 points shy of Piastri now.

Elsewhere, it was a strong day for the rookies as Hadjar moves into the overall top ten (level on points with Hulkenberg), while the in-form Bearman is now up to 11th.

Meanwhile, a miserable double DNF for Ferrari sees it drop behind Red Bull in the fight for second in the constructors' standings.

A big pay day for Mercedes sees it consolidate second, but Red Bull is up to third with Ferrari fourth.

Can Norris begin to believe in the title?

"No, not at all... it is a great win, but we saw how quick Max was today. That is where my mind is at, go see the team and then see where we weren't quick enough.

"Not a long way to go, but it can change so quickly. So I am just focused on myself, ignore everyone."

Verstappen: Incredible result

"I think the race was quite full-on, a lot of action and overtakes. Our pace was quite strong, so to be on the podium from the pit-lane, I didn't expect that. And we had a puncture. Incredible result for us, we are happy with that.

"Very proud of everyone in the team, yesterday was tough for us but we never give up, we always try to improve and find lap time and we found it today.

"Just try to be as fast as possible because you don't want to lose much time, so it wasn't straight-forward. But with all that to finish just 10secs off the winner is incredible."

18:47
Antonelli: "I don't know where Verstappen came from!"

"I don't know where this guy came from! I didn't see it coming. To be fair, I was lucky to come away [with a podium] after the contact, the car felt weird afterwards. It was a good race, the last laps were dreadful with Max coming with fresher tyres. But we were able to maintain a decent pace and take P2.

"I found my rhythm when he was closing in, I raised the pace and tried to push a bit more. In dirty air it is hard to follow so I tried to use that to my advantage."

Norris: "This one is for Gil de Ferran"

"I was pushing, an amazing race. It is nice to win in Brazil, it's an amazing track and amazing fans. This one was for Gil [de Ferran], he was one of my mentors growing up, I'm sure he'd be very proud. A perfect weekend.

[On finding his focus] "Just ignore anyone that talks crap about you, focus on yourself!"

More points for Bearman

Oliver Bearman gets the very most out of his Haas package en route to sixth place, his fourth top ten finish in a row.

The Haas driver put in some brilliant overtakes along the way as he adopted a conservative strategy that forced him to fight back on fresher tyres - nevertheless, he always looked quick and sixth as best of the rest was a fine reward.

Better still, it moves him to 11th in the standings

Verstappen shines

Verstappen did what Verstappen does best - rescue a brilliant result from nowhere

The Dutchman started from the pit-lane and came into the race with no grasp on a competitive set-up, but changes overnight ignited his charge through the field.

Even then he had to contend with an early unscheduled stop for a slow puncture, but he had the pace to rival Norris in clear air.

He becomes only the third driver in F1 history to score a podium from a pit-lane start

New career best for Antonelli

Some brilliant defensive work by Antonelli to resist the hard charging Verstappen to claim his second podium of the year and his best finish in F1 too.

By far his best weekend in F1 yet, which will go a long way to vindicating Mercedes' faith in the youngster during some of the rockier moments of his rookie campaign

18:39
Mighty performance by Norris

Lots of drama, unfolding strategies behind him but Lando Norris kept his head, led from the beginning and didn't allow the complexities of the race phase him.

Fifth for Piastri - whose race was hindered by the 10secs penalty he probably deserved - means the gap between the two at the top of the standings rises to 24 points

Liam Lawson does a mighty job to keep six drivers behind him to finish seventh after making the one-stop work

Oliver Bearman is on course for a comfortable sixth place, another fantastic result for the young Briton

Behind him, Lawson and Hulkenberg have seemingly made the one-stop work as they hold seventh and eighth, and the pair are about to cross swords in the fight for the better of those positions.
