F1 Singapore Grand Prix LIVE: Race updates as Verstappen leads Leclerc

Live updates from Sunday's Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay.

KEY MOMENTS

  • Max Verstappen leads from pole
  • Hamilton on different strategy to the rest
  • Russell coming from 19th

The 2026 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix takes place over 62 laps on Sunday.

It has been a fantastic weekend for Red Bull's Max Verstappen so far, with the Dutchman continuing his strong form from last weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia by taking pole and victory in Singapore's first-ever sprint race, before securing pole again for the Grand Prix.

Verstappen, who is looking to win the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time, overcame a challenge from the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton in regular qualifying to claim his 50th F1 career pole by just 0.054 seconds.

F1 championship leader Kimi Antonelli starts from fourth as he looks to further increase his points advantage over Mercedes team-mate George Russell, which currently stands at 89 points.

It has so far been a weekend to forget for Russell, who squandered a chance to reduce his deficit to Antonelli by crashing out of the lead of Saturday's sprint race. Adding to the Briton's pain, Russell starts today's race from towards the back with an overhanging engine penalty.

The McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri line up fifth and sixth as they look to avoid a repeat of their clumsy collision in the sprint race that left the team extremely angry with its drivers.

F1 Singapore GP schedule

Singapore Grand Prix, 62 laps - 1pm BST start

11 Oct 2026
13:54

This may prompt Red Bull to pit this lap.

13:54
Colapinto stopped

Colapinto has stopped at Turn 8. Yellow flags are out.

13:53
Lap 31/62

Verstappen is almost 20s clear now.

13:53

Gasly has come in, which releases Russell to 10th.

13:52
Lap 30/62

Verstappen's lead now 19s. Tremendous drive so far from the Red Bull star.

13:51

"I need to use this speed mate," Hamilton tells his team. But his team has told him to manage in some corners.

So, doesn't sound like Hamilton will be getting his wish.

13:50
Lap 29/62

Verstappen's march continues to an 18-second gap. Red Bull may well be trying to pull him out of range of the McLarens before making a stop.

13:49

Leclerc has just set a fastest lap.

13:48
Lap 28/62

Verstappen is 17s clear of the field now, and has been told that the medium tyre isn't great right now. So, looks like this stint will extend for a few more laps.

13:47
Lap 27/62

No swap at Ferrari so far, but Hamilton has told his team "we lost two seconds last lap".

Translation - 'move him out of the way'.

13:46

Ferrari has a headache on its hands here because Hamilton is on the faster tyre to Leclerc, but is likely stopping again.

Do they engineer a swap here to avoid a Zandvoort scenario?

13:46
Lap 26/62

Verstappen's lead is 16s over Norris.

13:44

Leclerc rejoins ahead of Hamilton, but only just.

13:44

Norris is up to second ahead of Piastri, with McLaren looking to extend this stint massively.

13:44
Lap 25/62

Leclerc is in for the medium tyres.

13:43

Hamilton has grown his lead over Antonelli after that pit stop phase. The gap is about three seconds.

13:42

New mediums for Antonelli. Hamilton ahead of the Mercedes into fifth.

13:42
Lap 24/62

This has been a Sunday cruise for Verstappen so far.

Antonelli, meanwhile, pits from third.

13:41

Hamilton has just posted a 1m37.1s to set a new fastest lap. That's a two-stop surely?

13:41
Lap 23/62

Russell is now up to 11th ahead of Ocon.

Verstappen's lead is now 7.7s over Leclerc.

13:40

Perez is in the pits.

13:39

Hamilton is pushing hard just now. So, are we seeing him push these soft tyres hard for maybe 20 laps or so as part of a two-stop strategy?

13:39

Russell is stuck in 12th at this stage. His charge has stalled a bit.

13:39
Lap 22.62

No dramas for Verstappen so far. He's 6.7s clear of Leclerc, with Antonelli in third.

13:38

Leclerc sounds like he wants to stop soon. He's complaining about grip.
