Heavy rain has forced the British Grand Prix stewards to red flag Q2, with just over six minutes to go.

The decision was taken after a number of drivers had high-speed moments and aquaplaned off, including Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher.

Prior to the red flags, Sauber's Sergio Perez had been quickest on a 1 minute 59.092 seconds, with Lewis Hamilton second in his McLaren and Mercedes man Nico Rosberg third. Jean-Eric Vergne and Nico Hulkenberg were fourth and fifth, with Kamui Kobayashi, Kimi Raikkonen, Mark Webber, Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel in positions six through to ten.

In the drop zone were both Ferraris and also Schumacher. Bruno Senna had yet to set a time.

Senna's team-mate, Pastor Maldonado was just on the wrong side of the cut-off in P11, ahead of Paul di Resta and Romain Grosjean.

Qualifying will now be re-started at 15.07 hours local time - a stoppage of over 90 minutes.
