Williams Tests Renault Champ.

Formula Renault Sport champion Aluizio Coelho tried a Williams F1 car for size this week, as a reward for taking the British title.


Like Marc Hynes in 1997, the Brazilian was given a run at Silverstone, and impressed the team with his handling of the car in less than ideal conditions. To add to Coelho's misfortune, the test was cut short by electrical problems, but the Brazilian emerged enthusiastic from his run.

(It's really quick,) exclaimed the Manor Motorsport driver, (Almost like a spaceship. The revs are going up and there is so much G-force, but you feel very comfortable in the car. It is such a stable machine, so smooth.)



Coelho hopes to move up to Formula Three for 1999.
