Frentzen a father at last.

After weeks of waiting, Heinz-Harald Frentzen is finally a father tonight, following the birth of his daughter.

The German has spent much of the race season with a mobile 'phone clamped to his ear, waiting for word that wife Tanja had delivered while he was on the other side of the world, but she kindly waited long enough for the Jordan driver to get back from the San Marino GP on Sunday.

The German has spent much of the race season with a mobile 'phone clamped to his ear, waiting for word that wife Tanja had delivered while he was on the other side of the world, but she kindly waited long enough for the Jordan driver to get back from the San Marino GP on Sunday.

The birth made Frentzen's day, as he had retired on lap four of the race, despite having to drive Tanja to the hospital after she went into labour around midnight. Daughter Lea was born at around midday today [Monday].

''We are over the moon,'' said a tired, emotional and happy father, ''She is as beautiful as her mother - I am quite speechless!''
