Villeneuve says no to $50 million CART offer.
Former F1 and CART world champion Jacques Villeneuve has reportedly said no to a $50 million offer to return to the CART series for the 2003 championship before returning to BAR for 2004-5.

Panis to join Toyota Racing in 2003.
Panasonic Toyota Racing announced today that French driver Olivier Panis has signed a two-year-contract to be one of the team's race drivers from the 2003 season.

UK tobacco ad ban exempts F1.
Hot on the heels of news that the Malaysian Grand Prix would not be affected by sweeping restrictions on tobacco promotion in the Far Eastern country comes the revelation that a proposed total ban in the UK will also exempt Formula One.
Ferrari guaranteed win at Indianapolis.
The Ferrari Challenge series will make its third appearance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as a support event for the 2002 SAP United States Grand Prix from Sept. 27-29.
F1 exempted from Malaysian tobacco ban.
Formula One will not be subject to restrictions on cigarette sponsorship at next year's Malaysian Grand Prix - despite the country voting in a complete ban on tobacco advertising from January 2003.

New lap record for Badoer at Zandvoort.
All the 2002 Marlboro Masters drivers gathered for a group photo at the end of the weekend of racing at Zandvoort in the Netherlands on Sunday. Then, the Marlboro drivers thanked the spectators, throwing their caps into the crowd.

Bridgestone attacking at Hungary.
Formula 1 resumes this weekend with the 13th round of the world championship at the Hungaroring, near Budapest. After the German Grand Prix, which was the 10th race of the season to be won on Bridgestone tyres, all the tyres from Hockenheim were, as usual, brought back to the UK.

McLaren trio attend West race day final at Brno.
West McLaren Mercedes drivers David Coulthard, Kimi Raikkonen and Alexander Wurz will attend the final of a driving competition, sponsored by the team's Title Partner West. It takes place at the Brno Circuit in the Czech Republic on 20th and 21st September.
Minardi to be bought out?
Reports that the cash starved Minardi team is on the brink of being bought out have gained greater impetus with a statement made yesterday by one of the figures at the centre of the rumours regarding the buy-out.
Michael gives thanks to Gestione Sportiva.
There was a nice surprise yesterday for all the Gestione Sportiva staff. At the usual celebration which follows every victory, there was a guest of honour in the shape of none other than the reigning world champion, Michael Schumacher.
Holiday break spent wisely at BAR.
Following last weekend's German GP, Formula One's global circus comes to a temporary halt. This year's race calendar dictates a three-week summer break for the hard working teams before the action begins again at the Hungarian GP on the 18th August.

Ferrari goes arty!
A work of art by the French sculptor Jean-Yves Lechevallier, recently placed outside the historic Ferrari management office building, was officially unveiled today by President Luca di Montezemolo and Jean Todt, in the presence of the artist and the press.
