Toyota boss Ove Andersson [pictured] has revealed for the first time the reasons why his team sacked both of its 2002 drivers - experienced Finn Mika Salo and British F1 rookie Allan McNish, in favour of Olivier Panis and CART champion Cristiano da Matta.

Formula One's governing body, the FIA today [Monday] confirmed that Friday testing, prior to a Grand Prix will go ahead in 2003. The FIA released a brief statement noting that:

The Mild Seven Renault F1 Team today [Sunday] concluded its four-day test session at the Spanish circuit of Jerez. The team achieved some positive results with next year's development items.

BAR give Matsuura first taste of F1.
Kosuke Matsuura got his first taste of Formula One today when Lucky Strike BAR Honda gave him a one-day test at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain.
<I>Formula 1 Magazine</I> appoints new editor.
Formula One Publishing has announced the appointment of Matthew Franey as Editor of Formula 1 Magazine. He will assume this position on 6th January 2003.

Jenson Button embarked on his long-awaited first test with Lucky Strike BAR Honda today [Friday] at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain. This was Button's first opportunity to spend some time trackside with his new team and joining him for his testing debut was team-mate Jacques Villeneuve.

McLaren-Mercedes test driver Alexander Wurz set the quickest time today [Friday] at Jerez, one hundredth up on Jaguar's Antonio Pizzonia, who was second.
