Jaguar Racing has today announced that Swedish driver Bjorn Wirdheim has signed to join the team as official test driver and first reserve driver.

Sheene's widow to wave F1 chequered flag.
It has been announced that the widow of motorsport legend Barry Sheene will fulfil a role her husband had been invited to perform last year, but was too ill to do; wave the chequered flag as the winner crosses the finish line in the Australian Grand Prix.

Heidfeld wraps up Jordan's EJ14 test in Jerez.
Nick Heidfeld today [Friday] completed Jordan Ford's EJ14 test session in Jerez, adding another 55 laps to the new car's mileage.
More miles at Mugello for Schumi and F2004.
Six times Formula One world champion, Michael Schumacher was testing at the Autodromo del Mugello today [Thursday], as the Scuderia continued development work on the new F2004.

Bruni concludes Minardi's first run with 2004 car.
The Minardi F1 Team successfully completed its two-day test at Misano's Autodromo Santamonica this afternoon, Gianmaria Bruni taking over from Zsolt Baumgartner, who drove yesterday.
Official: Bernie's F1 magazine to close.
The Official Formula One Magazine will cease publication with immediate affect according to reports in the media. Crash.Net contacted the publication today, and received confirmation that the February issue would be its last.

Williams confirms test role for Pizzonia.
The BMW WilliamsF1 Team today confirmed that Antonio Pizzonia has been retained as an official test driver and will undertake testing duties for the team in 2004.
Rubens completes Mugello test.
Rubens Barrichello rounded off Ferrari's latest pre-season test at the Mugello circuit in Tuscany with a full day of development on the new F2004.

Pantano to partner Heidfeld at Jordan?
Italian Giorgio Pantano has become the new favourite to join the Jordan Ford team. According to reports by BBC Radio Five Live Jordan are now said to be 'close to concluding a deal' with the former F3000 driver, after talks with Jos Verstappen collapsed on Thursday.

Ferrari completes two-day Imola test.
Having rounded out its trip to Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on Wednesday, Ferrari completed the second and final day of an overlapping test at Imola yesterday.

Massa crashes out in Barcelona.
Team Sauber-Petronas have been forced to abandon their third day of testing today [Wednesday], at the Circuit de Catalunya, near Barcelona, after Felipe Massa crashed heavily this morning. According to early reports the Brazilian is ok, however he was taken to hospital for a check-up.

Massa: I was conscious throughout.
Felipe Massa has dismissed rumours that he was knocked out during the accident that curtailed his test session in Barcelona this morning [Wednesday].

Renault's Fernando Alonso put the new R24 top today [Wednesday] at the Circuit de Catalunya, near Barcelona, the Spaniard posting a best of 1 minute 14.665 seconds.

Jordan start first proper test with EJ14.
Nick Heidfeld began the test programme for Jordan Ford's 2004 car, the EJ14, today [Wednesday] at Silverstone.
Derek Daly back in Formula One car.
Former Formula One driver Derek Daly returned to his roots on Monday, when he drove a Jordan-Ford EJ13 at Silverstone.

Benson and Hedges boosts Jordan.
Jordan Grand Prix has announced today that Benson & Hedges will be a major sponsor of the Jordan Ford team in the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship.
Mosley confirms new threat for tobacco backing.
FIA president Max Mosley has confirmed that there is a very real threat that Formula One teams may quit the United Kingdom for foreign facilities if something is not done about the latest threat to the sport from tobacco legislation.

New Ferrari breaks Fiorano lap record again!
Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro concluded their first test with the new F2004 yesterday [Sunday], by once again breaking the lap record.
Imola axed, Silverstone in danger for 2005.
Formula One 'governor' Bernie Ecclestone has renewed his attack on what he feels are the sub-standard venues in grand prix racing, notifying Imola and Silverstone amongst others that their days on the calendar could be numbered.

Schumi 'happy' following track debut of new F2004.
Ferrari #1 Michael Schumacher gave the new F2004 its track debut today [Friday] at Fiorano, the German reporting that it behaved 'very well straight out of the box'.

Along with a brand new chassis, Renault's Formula One effort will also encompass a redesigned V10. Unlike most of its rivals, however, the reworking is not just down to new regulations introduced over the winter, but also stems from a rethink on technical direction.

Renault's drivers give R24 glowing report.
Renault's trio of drivers, Fernando Alonso, Jarno Trulli and Franck Montagny have given the new R24 a massive vote of confidence following the official launch today in Italy, Alonso even going so far as to add that the old R23 is now 'forgotten'.

Renault to launch 2004 car today.
The Mild Seven Renault F1 team will launch their 2004 challenger today - the Renault F1 R24 will be unveiled in Palermo, Italy at 11 am UK time. Renault is the sixth team to launch their new car, following on from Williams, Sauber, Toyota, Jaguar and Ferrari.
