Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha-rider Christophe Ponsson is aiming to produce regular top ten WorldSBK results in 2022, despite being surrounded by ‘a lot of super-fast riders on official bikes’.

Christophe Ponsson will miss this weekend’s Dutch WorldSBK round following a split between Alstare and Gil Motor Sport.

Aleix Espargaro has expressed sympathy for Christophe Ponsson, but insists no rider should make their MotoGP debut during a race weekend. Espargaro has personal experience of the matter, having also never ridden a MotoGP machine before his own 2009 stand-in debut.
