Nasser Al-Attiyah has retained a healthy Dakar Rally lead despite conceding victory on stage six to closest rival Sebastien Loeb after going astray from his route towards the finish.

Sebastien Loeb has clinched victory on stage four of the 2018 Dakar Rally to chip away at Stephane Peterhansel’s lead as Peugeot profits from its rival’s issues to take a 1-2-3 in the standings, while defending bike champion Sam Sunderland retires from the event.

Sunderland could emerge as the most likely replacement for Cardiff should Rally GB decide to look for pastures new in 2013.
