Maverick Vinales is running the older Yamaha fairing this weekend. Usually he's gone for the newer 'split wing' design, which gives more downforce, but also more drag. The fast straight here means all four Yamahas are set to stick with the older fairing. Having two fairings available already this year means Yamaha has already used it's one allowed update.

Danilo Petrucci goes 2nd fastest and top Ducati, behind only Marc Marquez, at the end of FP1.
Pol Espargaro has a near miss with Danilo Petrucci under braking for turn one, while rookie Fabio Quartararo goes third fastest on the medium tyres.

Technical problem for Aprilia's Aleix Espargaro on the main straight with 15mins to go. The Spaniard is 3rd fastest at present.
Suzuki's Alex Rins has surprisingly set the highest top speed so far, presumably with a slipstream, at 350.0km/h.
The official MotoGP speed record is 356.5km/h (221.5mph), by Ducati's Dovizioso last year.
Marquez's top time is already under the official race lap record.
